Public Services Challenges 2010

Public Sector finances are changing with even greater emphasis on delivering more and better for less.  The certainties that had prevailed for a number of years are now gone.  Instead the sector is back in the firing line due to the changing economic situation and the uncertainties surrounding future national finances.

Successful Public Sector organisations will be those that grasp the challenge and deliver, for those that fail the immediate future looks painful and fraught with problems.

In truth, some of the impending changes were already in the pipeline but it is now the deree and speed with which change is required that will test everyone in public service.

Various reports and CSRs have come and gone with with the current pressing need to reduce public spending over the next few years there can only be one outcome - a downward spiral on costs with an ever increasing hunger from citizens for better services.

These structural cost changes are likely to be hard and complex as the easier and obvious cost savings have already been achieved an embedded by most organisations.

This is the New Dawn and potentially the biggest challenge yet for public services in the United Kingdom.
